Meet the Artist
Alex began his tattoo career in the summer of 1990. Inspired by the tattoos of the singer and bassist in his post-punk grunge band, he started drawing his own traditional, tribal and American comic-inspired flash and learning the tricks of tattooing.
He worked in several shops in his native New Jersey, eventually ending up in Missouri with his beautiful fiancee, whom he quickly married once they were settled. He worked in a couple of shops near the Fort Leonard Wood army base before taking some time off from tattooing to start a Web design company with his wife. Soon, the new company was greatly successful and Alex returned to his artistic passion, tattooing!
From early on Alex spent too much time drawing (or so he'd been told repeatedly by "Da Man™"), which led him to receive awards at comic conventions, poster commissions for Philly music events, an interview at Marvel Comics and placement in a two-month long exhibition at the World Trade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. In the late '90s, he expanded his skills when he received fine arts training at an atelier in Philadelphia. Alex is proficient in a wide variety of media, including pencil, oils, digital and airbrush and he spent time creating beautiful paintings on t-shirts, leather and jean jackets, guitars and cars around the Philadelphia area in the mid-'90s.
He currently works near the Fort Leonard Wood army base at Top Gun Tattoos, where his cyberpunk anime-styled take on traditional tattoo subjects and pinups help make him stand out at a shop with one of the best reputations in the area. You can find him there every Thursday-Sunday, or contact him for more information about setting up an appointment to discuss your ideas for adding a little more color into your life!
